Napoli managed to create a handful of opportunities to test Atalanta’s goalkeeper in the opening period. However, it was the second-half goals from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Amir Rrahmani that ultimately sealed the win for the hosts. Overall, Napoli will be pleased with their performance and the result, as they look to maintain their dominance in the Serie A title race.

Napoli continued their dominant run in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Atalanta on Saturday. Winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and defender Amir Rrahmani were the goal-scorers, helping Napoli to extend their lead at the top of the table to a staggering 18 points. Meanwhile, Atalanta’s winless streak was extended to four games with this defeat.

This victory came after Napoli’s second league defeat of the season at the hands of Lazio last week. However, the team bounced back strongly and took advantage of Inter Milan’s shock 2-1 defeat to Spezia on Friday, which saw them slip further behind Napoli in the league standings. With such a significant lead, Napoli’s path to their first Scudetto in over 30 years seems clearer than ever.

Atalanta’s woes in front of goal continued as they failed to find the back of the net for the third successive game in their recent 2-0 defeat to Napoli. The visitors remain in sixth place on the Serie A table with 42 points, seven points ahead of seventh-placed Juventus and eighth-placed Bologna, who both have a game in hand, as well as Udinese in ninth.

In contrast, Napoli enjoyed several opportunities to score throughout the match, with winger Matteo Politano and striker Victor Osimhen both testing Atalanta keeper Juan Musso in the first half. However, it was Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who broke the deadlock for the hosts in the 60th minute with a powerful strike into the roof of the net. Defender Amir Rrahmani then doubled Napoli’s lead in the 77th minute with a towering header from a corner.

Despite Luis Muriel’s attempt to pull one back for Atalanta in the 73rd minute, Napoli keeper Pierluigi Gollini denied the visitors once again. With this result, Atalanta will be looking to bounce back and find their form when they host Empoli on Friday, while Napoli will be preparing for their Champions League last-16 second leg match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday before traveling to face Torino in Serie A on March 19.
